Mirecourt Violin labelled Paul Bailly 1907 (OV25029)
Length of Back: 360mm
This is a very nicely made Mirecourt violin, attributed to Paul Bailly, who was a celebrated French maker in the early 20th Century. Although signed on the label, Bailly wasn’t the maker of this violin (but it is possible that it was made for the export markets of UK or USA by some of his workshop assistants).
The violin shows great attention to detail in its construction. It has a beautifully carved scroll and the tonewoods used are of high quality and highly flamed. It features a plum red/brown varnish and is it superb condition.
The violin has good resonance throughout the four strings and plays with a clear and bright tone.
It is set up with Larsen Aurora strings and Ebony tailpiece. A nicely made violin and suited to a developing classical student.
