Mirecourt Laberte Violin (OV24115)
Marc Laberte’s workshop in Mirecourt, France was well respected for producing consistently high quality instruments. He employed assistants who he supervised during the making process and some of these were labelled as ‘sous la direction’ of Marc Laberte. Although this violin’s labelled has been removed at some point, it is highly likely that it was one of these ‘sous la direction’ works as the finishing of the scroll and edge is simply outstanding; it even retains the original gold-tipped pegs.
The violin is of Stradivari modelling with a stunning two piece maple back and good quality top of spruce. It’s finished in a reddish-brown varnish and is in excellent good condition throughout.
The violin has a sweet, responsive and sonorous tone with good volume. It’s set up with Helicore strings and Wittner tailpiece for fine tuning.
A beautifully crafted instrument and suited to a committed student or traditional fiddler.
Comes in a lightweight case.
