Gustave Villaume, Atelier 1943 Mirecourt. (OV25045)
This violin was made in the workshop of Gustave Villaume, a reputable Luthier born in Mirecourt, France in 1899. (He was a pupil of Mougenot and Jacquent Gand). The instrument is in excellent condition and has the Gustave Villaume branding near the button on the back. It is finished in an attractive reddish-brown varnish and is labelled internally ‘Gustave Villaume, Mirecourt No 536’.
It has a resonant and full tone which is well balanced across the strings. It would suit a committed classical student or traditional fiddler.
It is set up with Helicore Strings and Wittner Tailpiece and is easy to play.
A violin in great condition from a respected workshop!
