J H Blaise 1920 from the Cousenon Workshop, Mirecourt (OV25043)

This is a Mirecourt, French Violin dating from 1920 of Amati design.   

Jehanne Blaise was known to be  a luthier working in the Cousenon Workshop during this era.   The violin contains a handwritten label bearing his initials HB and wording  ‘a l’enseigne de la bonne Lorraine Jehanne H Blaise est feseur de violins a Mirecourt’.

The violin has a mature, sweet and resonant tone.  It is finished in a reddish-brown varnish, with black ink-tipped scroll.  A lovely violin to play.
